Red Belt Syllabus

Single Techniques:

jab, cross, hook, uppercut

Pad work:

1. Jab, cross, hook, uppercut as a combination.
2. “Karate” Roundhouse
3. “Thai” Roundhouse
4. “Karate” Front kick
5. “Thai” Front kick

Flow Drills:

“Crazy monkey” guard, counter rear cross, rear leg roundhouse.

Yellow Belt Syllabus

Single Techniques:

Any Technique from previous syllabus +:  Step through side kick, centre line side kick.

Pad Work:

  1. “Karate” and “Thai” Roundhouse Kick
  2. “Karate” and “Thai” Front kick
  3. Step through Side Kick

Flow Drills:

“ Crazy monkey”, guard, alternating hands to stop straight shots and hooks, and closing distance to safety position of under hooks, over hooks or 1 over hook, 1 under hook ( head control on same side as under hook).

Orange Belt Syllabus

Flow Drills:

Any from previous syllabus +:

  1. Off Jab; slip and Jab body, hook body, hook head, cross head, rear leg roundhouse to leg.
  2. Off Cross; slip cross, liver punch, same hand upper cut to head, cross, rear leg roundhouse to leg

Single Techniques:

Any from the previous syllabus + lead leg side kick, front knee (without clinch), roundhouse knee (with 1 handed “swan neck” clinch).

Green Belt Syllabus

Flow Drills:

Roll rear hand hook, hook body rear hand, hook head lead hand, cross to head, rear leg roundhouse kick to leg.

Roll lead hand hook, lead hook body, rear hook head, lead hook head, cross head, rear leg roundhouse to leg.

Single Techniques:

Any from previous syllabus + : 1.Hook kick.2. Back kick. 3.4.Spinning side kick.       5.Spinning back fist

Flow Drills:

Any from the previous syllabus +:

Off jab; Catch jab, same side counter cross, lead hook cross, rear leg round house.

Off Cross; Catch cross in lead hand, scoop out into same hand hook, cross, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse.

Off jab to body; Stop with rear elbow, same side short cross, lead hook, cross, rear leg round house.

Off cross to body; Stop with lead elbow, same hand hook, cross, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse kick.

Off attempted spleen punch; Step in closing angle and stop punch with near side elbow, counter same side upper cut, lead hook, cross, lead hook,cross, rear leg round house. ( repeat from other side i.e. attempted liver punch, counter same side upper cut, cross, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse.)

Pad Work:

Elbows: Flow drill: Lead pushing elbow, rear horizontal elbow, lead circular elbow, rear uppercut elbow, rear spinning elbow.

Sparring:

Flow Drills:

Any from the previous syllabus +:

Purple Belt Syllabus

Single Techniques on pads:

Any from previous syllabus + :

1.Spinning hook kick 2. Axe kick 3. Crescent kick, spinning crescent kick.

 Flow Drills:

Any from previous syllabus +:

Off jab: Parry with rear hand whilst stepping forwards on rear leg and throwing counter jab on the inside of opponents arm, spleen punch, same hand upper cut to head under opponents arm, lead hook cross, rear leg roundhouse to leg.

Off cross; Parry and clear cross with lead elbow keeping chin protected, cross, rear leg roundhouse to leg.

Off hook; Cover with “ Crazy monkey” guard on the spot, rear hook, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse kick.

Off hook; Close distance and intercept with “Crazy monkey” guard, same side axe fist counter, rear hook, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse.

Sparring:

3×2 minute rounds. Kickboxing and K-1 rules.

Brown Belt Syllabus

Pad work:

Any technique from previous syllabus. From left and right stance+:

1.Lead leg roundhouse, side kick and hook kick from side foot stance, half stepping feet together under cover of a jab thus closing distance and avoiding head movement to prevent telegraphing the move.

2. “Superman” punch

3. Rear leg double roundhouse kick, low to high, without replacing foot on the ground between kicks.

4.Feint front kick, change hip position and finish with roundhouse kick to the head.

5.Rear leg hook kick to side kick without placing foot down between techniques.

Dirty boxing drills 1-4:

  1. Double jab palm heel Cross.
  2. Lead hand parry, lead hand back knuckle, over hand right, left hook, right cross.
  3. Lead hand parry on to right elbow, rear back knuckle, lead hook, rear cross.

From close range; rear hammer fist, lead axe fist, rear hook, lead hook, rear cross, rear leg kick ( performed as flurry)

Flow Drills:

1.Rolling elbow cover from hook, same side circular elbow, rear cross, lead hook, rear cross, rear leg roundhouse.

2.Jab, cross, Lead leg inside hooking sweep, overhand with rear hand, lead hook, rear cross.

3.Jab, Cross, rear leg Ashi Bari foot sweep, same leg Roundhouse to head.

4,Jab, Cross, rear leg Ashi Bari foot sweep, opponent moves leg, bring sweep through in to side kick to body.

Leg Kick Counters:

Defence against rear leg low kick; check kick, Jab, Cross, Rear Low Kick.

Defence against inside leg kick 1. ; Turn knee in to check kick, rear cross, lead          hook,rear cross, rear low kick.

Defense against inside low kick; Move front leg out and around, evading kick, rear leg Low kick to back of calf/knee lead leg high “lift”,Roundhouse kick to head.

Sparring

2ND Brown Belt Syllabus

Flow Drills:

Any from previous syllabus +:

1.Attacking; Jab , cross, lead hook, rear double “Mexican” hook ( body head same side), inside lead leg roundhouse kick

2.Attacking; Jab, cross, rear leg roundhouse, rear hand “ Superman” punch as leg returns, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse kick.

3.Attacking; Jab, cross as rear leg half steps through, jab, same side roundhouse kick to head.

Counters from failed low kicks:

1.Opponent draws back from rear leg roundhouse kick, as opponent moves back in use same leg counter side kick.

2.Opponent draws back from rear leg roundhouse kick, continue with momentum of kick using quick jump/spin step through and throwing same side roundhouse kick again to either head or body.

3.Opponent leg checks rear leg roundhouse kick, immediately counter with lead leg roundhouse to either body or head, cross, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse kick to leg again.

4. Opponent leg checks inside low kick, counter cross, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse kick to leg.

5.Opponent counters inside low kick by circling leg outwards, immediately throw rear leg back kick.

Sparring

At least six rounds:  Kickboxing, K-1 rules.

3rd Brown Belt Syllabus

Flow Drills:

  1. Attacking; “Flash jab”, finish with either cross, rear leg low kick or rear hand body shot.
  2. Attacking; Jab,lead hook, circling and closing oponents stong sise down, cross, rear leg low roundhouse kick.
  3. Attacking; Jab/back knuckle, rear overhand punch,lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse kick.
  4. Attacking; Jab/”corkscrew uppercut”, step out, cross, rear leg roundhouse kick.
  5. Attacking; “Rocket launcher jab”, cross, lead hook, rear leg low roundhouse kick.

Foot Sweeps:

  1. Jab, cross, rear leg outside foot sweep, lead hook, cross, rear leg roundhouse kick.
  2. Jab, cross, rear leg outside foot sweep to roundhouse kick to head or body with same leg.
  3. Lead inside hooking sweep, rear overhand punch, lead hook, cross, rear leg low roundhouse kick.
  4. Opponent takes side on stance and attacks with lead leg, circle out to opponents back, shoot rear arm across chest and throw with rear leg outside sweep.
  5. Opponent throws rear leg roundhouse kick, counter with leg grab and rear leg circular reaping sweep.

Sparring:

6×2 minute rounds, kickboxing and K-1 rules.

Black Belt Syllabus

There is no black belt syllabus

Students will have to earn their belts by demonstrating a high level of technical ability in randomly chosen elements of the system.

The emphasis will be placed on actual ability and the grading will be based heavily on sparring under, Boxing, Kickboxing, K-1 and Stand up to takedown rules. Students must be able to compete with and perform reasonably against students of a higher grade.

The grading will also include two on to one sparring and drills to test physical conditioning.
